A little life update 💕

Hey folks, I wanted to share a little personal update with you, and explain why things have been a little quieter here at Rowbert recently.

As many of you know, Rowbert has been my little labour of love since 2017. Every candle poured, every diffuser made and every parcel packed has been done by me, by hand, with an enormous amount of love.
​
Earlier this year, my husband Dan was diagnosed with cancer, and over recent months, life has become more complicated than we ever could have imagined. After responding well to initial treatment, we had some good news back in September and I posted an "I'm back!" on Instagram. Unfortunately that was a little premature. Dan's cancer has come back and it's spread more widely than before. As we navigate his next phase of treatment and everything that comes with it, I’ve had to make some changes to how I spend my time, and where my priorities lie.

You might have noticed that some of your favourite products & fragrances have been out of stock for longer than usual, or that I’ve not been popping up at quite as many markets and events.
The simple truth is that there are only so many hours in the day, and right now, my family needs more of them.
​
I’ll still be here, dabbling away quietly in the background, making your favourite home fragrances, packing your lovely orders and doing what I love. Things might just happen a little more slowly than they used to.
I can’t always promise immediate restocks or a packed calendar of markets, but I can promise that the love, care and quality that goes into every Rowbert product hasn’t changed one bit.
Thank you for continuing to support my little business, for your patience, and for allowing me the space to navigate this chapter of life.

Rowbert, founded by Kirsty, was created to celebrate our special moments through scent.

How our story
Born from the desire of simply wanting a hobby, Kirsty started making candles in her kitchen in 2016. Completely self taught through trial & error, it took around a year to perfect her craft.

She dabbled in attending local markets & created a website to sell from online. The collection has slowly grown from soy wax candles to include wax melts, reed diffusers & air mists... all designed to scent your space with beautiful fragrance, coupled with a minimal ethos.
​
Over the years, Kirsty realised that her products were providing more than just scent. They were enhancing moments in people's lives. Weddings, birthdays, new houses. Rowbert was around in a small way, elevating those moments... and allowing people to relive them by experiencing the scent again.
Each and every one of our products is handcrafted by Kirsty, from her studio (aka converted garage) in Harrogate. Although, more often than not, she gets an extra pair of hands in the form of her sister who loves to help! From beginning to end, you're getting a proper artisan product, with quality and attention at every stage. Not churned out in huge batches, going along a conveyor belt poured by huge machines. Where's the personal touch in that?

Minimalism is at the heart of everything we do. From ingredients to design to packaging... we think less is more. We only include ingredients that are necessary. We don't add any dyes or nasty extras to our candles, just the fragrance for a clean burn. All of our containers are glass and are perfect for reusing. Our candle jars can be turned into planters, our diffuser bottles into pen pots. We love the idea that our packaging can have a life after our product has been enjoyed. Or if it's not needed, all of our packaging is fully recyclable!
